My name is Keturah Kendrick.

Years ago, I started a blog called Yet Another Single Gal.

I was unsure why I was writing this blog for at least half of the ten years I inconsistently posted entries. Somewhere around year number 8, it occurred to me what I was doing: submitting documentation.

I wanted it documented that an unmarried black woman could exist as a destination and not a journey. I wanted digital proof that women found joy and fulfillment in lives absent of children. I wanted to leave evidence somewhere in this nebulose world of the internet. Here is proof that some of us do not believe a supernatural being will save us. Look at this evidence that we explore the world and are not bound by American borders. Yes, we do desire love, but on our terms. With partners who do not require our submission or erasure.

This podcast is an extension of my documentation. Over these last ten years, I have met other black women who were not living within the narrow confines of “good black womanhood.” I am a talker. A people lover. So what better way to document 21st century womanhood than by chatting with ladies who have decided they, too, would free themselves from expectations, constructs, beliefs that are not in their best interest. Women who decide their path and take it. Women who are free.
